Breathing and the Diaphragme - take a sip of life

We breath. We breath all the time. It's an autonomic function of the body. So what makes it into such an incredible tool for reaching deeper into ourselves? into our emotional body?

The answer is that the breathing is an action that can be controlled both by the Autonomic nervous system and by the somatic one. We can choose to alter or control the breath rhythm rate or depth by will, but at the end of the day, most of the time we don't need to pay attention to it... it keeps happening by itself.

The above fact is what makes the breath into a bridge between the consciousness and the subconsciousness. If we'll start paying attention to it during the day (almost an impossible mission) we'll see how it changes according to our feelings at the moment.

To breath is to take a sip from life. The deeper the inhalation the bigger the sip.
The exhalation is the second stage in the process - letting it all go. accepting. surrendering.

Is there a symmetry between my inhalation and exhalation?
Is there a good wave like flow or is it fragmented?

When we love the moment we want to take a big mouthful of life. When depressed we rather just survive with a shallow breath.

The Diaphragm is a dome like muscle, separating between our thoracic and abdominal space. When we inhale, the diaphragm contracts and flattens down so it "pushes the belly out". When we exhale it relaxes and goes back to it's dome shape. the belly "is going back in".

What can we learn from looking at the movement of  the diaphragm? can only awareness of it affect and better the flow?

To be continued...
